Brad Pitt Rises From The Pits
October 17, 2022
Brad Pitt is a renowned actor in The Lost City, Bullet Train, and Ad Astra. Many of these movies are considered his magnum opus and are some of the best works he is involved/worked on. Brad Pitt started his career in acting in 1987 at the age of 24. Over the years, he has accomplished many feats from starring in cameos in many movies to becoming the producer and the
lead actor in said movies. He has a very unique set of acting skills that truly set him apart from other actors, which is what shows his greatness. Brad Pitt is an amazing actor that never ceases to amaze me. For this article, I will be using the grading scale of Leonardo DiCaprio crying as a funny one-liner albeit a great grading scale nonetheless.
The Dark Side of the Sun is Brad Pitt’s first movie made in 1988. This film revolves around a character named Rick (played by Brad Pitt) who is searching for a cure for a rare skin cancer. Rick actually has this rare disease which has him unable to go outside at all or else it could kill him. During his adventure, he finds love and many other things. For Pitt’s first movie, he made $1,523.00 according to IMDb, and by today’s currency standards that would be $3,812.92. The entirety of how much the film made is unknown, and overall the film is pretty much married to hopeless romantics. I give this movie one out of five “Leonardo DiCaprios Crying.”
Ad Astra was very renowned for its cinematography and acting but not as much for its writing. Overall, it’s a well-made movie, but I didn’t think it was actually good. The movie had a budget of 90 million dollars, and it only made 127 million dollars worldwide, making it only a mild success. It was, however, seen as a financial failure, according to IMDb reviews, and was an
acceptable film at best. The story/plot was weird and confusing, and I couldn’t follow what was going on. It bored me and honestly left me sitting on my couch browsing my phone. I feel like a hole is burning through my chest when watching this movie with cheap scenes that made me cry and horrible plot twists as well. This movie could have done better if it wasn’t so dark, brooding, and bland with its visuals. I would give this movie a three “Leonardo DiCaprios Crying” out of five.
The next movie is The Lost City. The Lost City is an elaborate joke wrapped around a comedic twist. Distinguished actors Brad Pitt, Daniel Radcliff, Channing Tatum, and Sandra Bullock all make appearances as characters featured in this unique movie. The story is very funny and features tons of different jokes including making references to the hit song “Stand by Me” by Ben E. King. Even though this movie is a comedic movie, with numerous accounts of irony by having the knight in shining armor saves the pretty princess, it did really well, with a budget of, “68 million dollars turning into a worldwide gross of 190 million dollars” according to the IMDb Charts. Overall, The Lost City is a very good movie, and I give this movie four “Leonardo DiCaprios Crying” out of five.
The final movie is Bullet Train, which is my overall favorite movie since it has everything I look for in a movie: a good story, funny, memorable characters, and extreme fighting scenes. To me, this movie was really cool since it has a lot of narrative
history and build-up behind many of the characters and combat sequences. The IMDb Charts reported that this movie had a budget of, “85 million dollars, and it made 198 million dollars worldwide.” I overall enjoyed this movie since it felt like a roller
coaster ride. This movie is also based on a book called Bullet Train written by Kotaro Isaka. What makes this movie so interesting is the uniqueness of the cinematography, the quality and technique of the action stunts, and the larger-than-life backstories of the various characters in the movie. It was also really cool to see the cameo of Sandra Bullock. Overall, this movie is a great watch for those who want background noise while doing the dishes or laundry. Although, it can be a bit nauseating sitting down trying to comprehend what is happening all at once. Even though this movie was much different than the rest, with it being highly intense with more action shots and more action scenes, I give this movie a five “Leonardo DiCaprio’s Crying” out of five.
Over the years, Brad Pitt has grown. He used to be in movies that were less than excellent, and more often than not, they were seen as failures in the media. But the films grew much better over the years. Brad Pitt is a very interesting person, and overall he has done a great job with the films he’s in, but not so great with the movies he’s produced. Brad Pitt has a sense of humor and
style that sets him apart from all other actors. Give Brad Pitt’s movies a shot because they are amazing. We can conclude that he is indeed out of the pits!
