A new style of smashburger restaurant has recently opened up in Maitland. With its unique flavors of burgers, fries, and “Beer Cheese,” Cow and Cheese has Maitland residents raving about their new take on fast food. Replacing the previous restaurant, Olea Mezze Grill which had been open since 2017, Cow and Cheese, opened by Kwame Boakye, is the more modern and cheaper version of Smashburger. Their burgers are made by grilling caramelized onions into their patties. Then, they top off the burger patty with cheese and their special sauce called “The Doc Sauce.” Cow and Cheese’s delicious signature burgers don’t disappoint juicy patties and almost sweet taste on a brioche bun. They also offer the soda brand St-ubborn, which provides different flavors of soda, from grape soda to pineapple cream soda. The restaurant itself has a very unique and fun ambiance, with its graffitied wallpaper and speakers that blast good music, promoting conversation among its customers. The open kitchen shows off the chefs working hard prepping fries, baking the buns, and caramelizing the onions. Many don’t know that Cow and Cheese is also in cahoots with some crowd-favorite restaurants such as Chicken Fire on Colonial Drive and That Wing Spot on South Orange Avenue. The correlation between these restaurants is very interesting, as they all support each other as they are all owned by Kwame Boakye. Highly recommended by the public, Cow and Cheese is the perfect spot for friends and family to socialize and enjoy a tasty burger for cheap. With Maitland constantly renovating itself and adding new shops and restaurants, Cow and Cheese is a must-see whether you live in the Maitland area or not.
