(Above) MSG attracts people all across the globe in various ways, with the most notable being its impeccable sound system. The sound quality of the arena leads guests to believe that they left the best concert from sections as high as the nose bleeds. This factor also adds to how artists, such as Billie Eilish, sell out stadiums for high prices.
Picking a venue isn’t hard until you’ve experienced the difference between a good and bad concert hall. Names like Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall carry the weight they do for a reason. These venues have gained fame because they put on a show that other venues simply can’t meet. Concert venues are a business and one that is an actively evolving field. Concert halls such as The Sphere, in Las Vegas, known for their unique technological projections, as well as lesser-known venues such as The Caverns, in Tenessee, located within an underground cave, all offer a special experience. Concert venues have the ability to make a concert unforgettable because of the concessions, marketing benefits, location, and most importantly the venue’s sound system. While deep diving into the catalogue of concert venues there is a multitude of options. However, do these famous venues deserve their fame?
(Above) Factors that help persuade artists, such as Billie Eilish, to pick between venues is the coverage and promotions they offer. Madison Square Garden promotes its clients in partnership with local media coverage, with promotions such as the surrounding billboards and specific press releases made for the artist. The billboards are extra beneficial because MSG’s in NYC. Location is an important factor almost always overlooked by concert goers, who pick venues closest to them. MSG is specifically known for its amazing crowds. From as high as the nose bleeds people are screaming the lyrics to their favorite songs. (Emily Cypher)(Above) Unlike the major names in the concert hall industry such as MSG, Downtown Orlando’s local stadium, Kia Center, formerly known as the Amway Center, is an example of many local concert centers. That being said, Orlando’s venue has received awards in past years for its amazing facilities awarded by the International Association of Venue Managers’ Venue Excellence Award. The concert hall’s strong reputation has brought artists to its facilities, such as Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet Tour, in October 2024. Orlando attracts quality acts despite the financial challenge artists face when choosing to visit Florida. (Emily Cypher)(Above) Madison Square Garden is unique because of the accommodations the staff offers and its unique structure inside and out. The ceiling of the arena is what’s known as a concave ceiling. MSG is the world’s only arena with a concave ceiling, and it’s not just for show. It adds to the overall experience, creating a better view for the audience in the nose bleeds. The added benefit of a concave ceiling is the acoustic installation, which can be added to improve sound quality. MSG is a structural phenomenon, and it doesn’t go unnoticed, as many guests point out the amazing sound quality of the arena. The arena has undergone various renovations to be what it is today, making it the most famous arena in the world. (Emily Cypher) (Above) Madison Square Garden is known as the best arena in many parts of the world, but why? MSG has had four major renovations and has been relocated around the city, each time transforming it one step closer to the renowned venue it is today. Everyone remembers their first concert at the Garden, and that’s because of the venue’s state-of-the-art facilities. (Emily Cypher)
