This soccer season has been filled with ups and downs. Lake Highland soccer had a very memorable season last year, getting all the way to the state championship and losing in overtime. However, this team is determined to change the narrative. Historically, the soccer team has been elite and has even finished in the top 10 in the the country. They are even currently ranked in the top 100 right now. The start of 2026 has been a tough stretch for them, filled with frustration and competitive spirits beginning to take over. The real question is, can this attitude be sustainable, or will the team come back together to finish the season? The team consists of an incredibly talented unit looking to bounce back and peak at the best time: the playoffs. Most players seem to believe that they will be ok, and the school is right behind them. JJ Gareecharun, grade 12, stated, “I don’t care how hard it will be to bring the Gold State Medal back home. It will come home, I’ll tell you that.” Alongside player belief, it’s strong to hear this coming from their senior and verteran captains, knowing it’s all on the line. The win-or-go-home factor is real. With the postseason around the corner, Colby Crampton, grade 12, said, “This year is a new year, a new chance, and a refurbished team. It will take all of us, not one of us. Teamwork is key, and connection is the standard.” This is one last chance for these Seniors. The question is, what will they make of it?
