Santiago Calderon, Editor-in-Chief

Santiago Calderon, grade 12, is the Editor-in-Chief of Lake Highland Preparatory School's Upper School newspaper Twice-Told Tale and has been the Editor-in-Chief of LHP’s literary magazine By Any Other Name. Outside of newspaper and literary magazine, Santiago is the captain of Lake Highland’s Public Forum Debate Team, has participated in two Stanford fellowships on Chinese and Korean studies, and worked at the Guyana Budget and Policy Institute. He also has taught Middle School debate students through the organization Platinum Debate, started a project to send food to a Venezuelan school with friends, and created an online charity debate tournament called the TeleHealth Access for Seniors Charity Debate Classic. Outside of school, Santiago enjoys going to the beach with his family, playing basketball, eating tacos, watching Netflix, and listening to music late in the night.

He took lessons of hard work, dedication, and passion from his parents and, “Applied them to my career and to the schools I have worked for.” This is manifesting in the Porter Family Center for Innovation and Academics, where Mr. Daly is collaborating with architects and giving input from Lake
Highland design committees.
