Rebecca Reif, Editor-in-Chief

Rebecca Reif, grade 12, is the Editor-in-Chief for Lake Highlands’ Upper School newspaper Twice-Told Tale, and Director of Photography for the literary magazine By Any Other Name. Outside of Lake Highland, Reif enjoys photography, playing the guitar, and participating in competitive dance, actively taking various styles of classes and competing at a national level. To give back to her community, Reif frequently volunteers at Second Harvest Food Bank, where she makes meals and sorts food for underprivileged families, and also teaches younger kids dance. As a way to learn more about the business world, Reif also started her own online reselling business, which focuses on current fashion trends. Ultimately, Reif hopes to pursue a career in the medical field, while also still engaging in journalism and business affairs.

(Right) In order to
get good reviews,
once an item is
purchased, it is

important to pack-
age the item in

a pleasing way. I
wrap the item in
tissue paper, add
a, “Thank your for
your purchase!”
sticker, and use
a colorful poly
mailer. Once that
is complete, the
last stop is the
post office, and
then the item
is shipped off.

Don’t Love It, Just List It

(Above) As I was apprehensive to start training in hip-hop, my studio and
team (shown above), helped me build up the courage to learn skills, as well
as perform on stage. The support that my studio shows while being onstage
is huge, with loud cheering and yelling. Also, other studios chime in with
this same encouragement, making dancing on stage and competing less nerve
wracking. After the first competition, I never doubted my ability in hip-hop,
and I continue to perform multiple pieces in that style. Photo courtesy of

(Above) Social media is a big part of getting the word out about
a new organization or club. For NEHS, all of their communications
go through Instagram, where Serena Young, grade 11, is in charge.

She describes her job as, “I’ll post deadlines, updates, and fun En-
glish-related facts on there.” Other ways to promote peer reviewing

and NEHS have been through posters, and the Juniors that Mrs.
Tracy Fordham teaches. All photos courtesy of Instagram, @lhps.nehs.

until second grade. This is when both of us voiced that
we would like to start expressing ourselves through our
own style and clothes. Before this time, our outfits were
always matching, whether it was actually the exact same
item of clothing, or by only having different colors of that item. Photo courtesy of Mrs. Jennifer Reif.

the nature in one’s life, and it also promotes conservation. Relating to Instagram trends,

butterfly and angel wings fill up a substantial amount of an individual’s feed. It is com-
mon for the person to stand in the middle of each wing, and poses for his or her photo.

(Above) On top of the prized breakfast at The Old Spanish Sugar Mill Grill and Griddle House, there are many other activities offered at De Leon Springs State Park including
boat tours, swimming in the spring, scuba diving, and hiking through the trails. Before the restaurant or state park was established, sugar cane was crushed using the iconic
mill. Later on, Peter and Majorie Shwarze saw the value of this mill, and decided to open up this successful and admired location.

(Above) When the Alabama Hotel closed, after being owned by several generations of the LaChance and Schenck family, the space was renovated from 1980-1981. During this time, the hotel transformed from guest rooms that hosted luminaries, to a 19-unit condominium. Today, the Alabama is still a condominium, and a two bedroom, two bathroom, 1,245 square foot condo runs for around $800,000. There are currently 12-units in the Alabama, where the units are all updated, and residents have shared amenities, such as a pool and lake access. Photo by Rebecca Reif.

(Above) The invisible illness manifests itself when it gets to the point of a patient crashing down, not being able to function in his or her normal state. A case representative of this idea was when I was admitted into the hosptial. For months since the start of school, I had been working over the present symptoms in my life. However, sometimes it gets to a point where medical intervention is needed. I was constantly hooked up to a new IV bag, my vitals were taken every four hours, and multiple specialists visited me to try to narrow down what was wrong, or if it were just a flare up of symptoms. The clock dates back to the early 1900s and was originally purchased for the First National Bank No. 1. This clock has been through four location changes, and was also interacted with during the Second World War by locals.

(Above) Twenty Pho Hour has a wide variety of offerings on their menu, consisting of appetizers, fresh summer rolls, stir fry noodles, pho bowls, signature bowls, build your own bowls, drinks, and desserts. While the menu is mainly focused on pho, other pan-Asian options are available. The most favored seem to be boba teas and refreshers and any type of pho with Twenty Pho Hour’s specialty sauce: 24 sauce. Twenty-four sauce showcases sweet, spicy, and savory flavors, which makes it the perfect pair with many of the dishes.

During the roughly 35 minute program, various images of night scenes, still life paintings, and bright skies pop up over the four-wall projection. In all, there are 60,600 frames of video and 90 million pixels that piece together Van Gogh Immersive Experience’s seamless exhibit. Additionally, while the walls encased the majority of the projections, the floors were also covered with art.

(Above) Goat yoga is popular through various social media platforms, which Alaska Farms take part in.
They have an Instagram account, @alaskafarms.co, as well as a Facebook page. Various guest
experiences are illustrated through these platforms, and individuals also enjoy posting their
encounters on their own social media. For Alaska Farms, social media is used as a form of
advertisement, giving both new and old customers a small glimpse of what their experience may
entail. It also shows their values as people and as a business, and it most importantly allows
people to stay connected with Alaska Farms, and vice-versa.
